Blizzard of 2010

With only a few days to spare in the year 2010, Mother Nature decided to send it out with a bang!!!  Christmas night around 6pm the snow began to fall.  It was beautiful, just beautiful!!  Big, fluffy snowflakes gliding ever so gently to the ground, slowly covering the grass and creating the prettiest lighting effects with all the Christmas lights that adorned every house on the block.  Yeah.....and it kept coming...and coming...and coming.

2 days and 14 inches later is stopped.  

The kids were over the moon excited.  Mom and Dad, not so much.  Papa braved the roads in an effort to beat the snow that was headed to DC where he lives.  Grandma stayed an extra day with us while the state of Virginia used their one and only snow plow to clear the roads so she could safely travel home to North Carolina.

After the initial shock of it all wore off, it actually wasn't so bad.  We were housebound for a good 3 days.  Thank goodness there was new toys from Santa to play with and lots of crafts on hand (Gotta love the craft stores $1 racks!!!!)

The snow continued to fall & with no end in sight, Daddy and the kids set out to make some headway on shoveling and cleaning off the cars.

I thought after we left Sandy Hook, NJ in June 2008 we would never have to experience snow like this ever again.  Well, I was wrong...very wrong.  But it was fun and I'm glad it happened over Christmas break because otherwise Jackson would have been making up snow days until July!!!!
